If you read no other book by her, read I KNOW WHY THE CAGED BIRD SINGS, but seriously, read all you can… such a talent. Sad she’s gone.

I quoted her in my teaching post today.

I imagine there’s a lifetime of quotes from her, don’t you?
I love this – it was in the paper this morning. (and of course she received some of her education and taught at universities here in my home state, so there’s a big article on her)
Come you death, in haste, do come
My shroud of black be weaving,
Quiet my heart, be deathly quiet,
My true love is leaving.

Hmmmm, she was, is and always will be, someone special.

I think so. I have her cookbook too, THE HALLELUJAH TABLE. Vignettes of her life with a recipe to go with it. Love it.
